Announcements
Your company's announcements are read in your inbox: tags, attachments, read acknowledgment, the home page block, and how to publish one.
Announcements are your company’s official messages: news, schedule changes, notices for everyone. They don’t have a section of their own: they arrive in your Inbox, mixed in with everything else by date, and your home page shows the latest one.
Where to read them
- In your inbox. Each announcement is tagged Announcement, Important or Pinned, and the sender is whoever published it (or Internal communication). When you open it you see the full text and the Attachments: images open in a viewer, and other files have Preview and Download. See Your inbox.
- On your home page. The Latest announcement block shows the most recent one with its author, when it was published, the title and the first few lines, plus how many announcements you haven’t read. View all, or clicking the announcement, takes you to your inbox. If there are none, the block is titled Announcements and says No new announcements. See Your home page: latest announcement and community.
What each tag means
| Tag | What it means | Who decides |
|---|---|---|
| A regular announcement | — | |
| The publisher marked it as a priority. It shows in red | The publisher | |
| The publisher highlighted it. It shows in amber, but it doesn't stay at the top: the inbox sorts everything by date | The publisher |
If an announcement is both important and pinned, the list shows Important and the details show both tags. Separately, a dot marks what you haven’t opened yet.
Unread is stored in your browser
Which announcements you’ve read is remembered in the browser where you opened them. On another device or browser they can show up as unread again, and the count on your home page changes too. It isn’t a new announcement, and any read acknowledgment is still on record.
Acknowledge you’ve read it
Some announcements ask you to acknowledge them. There’s no button to click: when you open the announcement in your inbox, Orquiva records that you’ve read it. If recording fails, you’ll see an error and the announcement stays unread; open it again once the problem clears.
Who sees each announcement
The publisher chooses the audience: the whole company, certain departments, certain roles or specific people. So a colleague can have an announcement that you don’t, and nothing is wrong.
Publish an announcement
Administrators and anyone with the announcements permission can publish, and your company needs the Professional plan or higher. Without that permission you don’t see the New announcement button on your home page.
- On your home page, click New announcement, or ask for New announcement from the search bar.
- Write the Title* and the Content*. Both are required. The text is plain, with no formatting; you can add emoji.
- If needed, turn on Pin to top, Mark as important or Require acknowledgment. The Preview shows how it will look in the inbox.
- Drag in any attachments: images, PDFs, documents or spreadsheets.
- Under Audience, choose Everyone, Departments, Roles or Specific people. Below it you’ll see how many employees it will reach.
- Click Publish announcement.
What happens next
The announcement goes out straight away: When to publish? is marked Coming soon, so you can’t schedule it. It reaches only the inbox of each person in the audience. Email and push are also marked Coming soon, and notification preferences don’t change any of this. When you’re done, Orquiva takes you to your inbox with the announcement open.
If something goes wrong
An announcement I already read shows as unread. You opened it on another device or browser. Open it here and it stops counting.
I open an announcement that asks for acknowledgment and get an error. The acknowledgment couldn’t be recorded and the announcement is still unread. Open it again later.
A colleague sees an announcement I don’t. The publisher chooses the audience: it may be meant only for certain departments, roles or people.
I didn’t get an email about the announcement. Announcements aren’t sent by email: they only reach your inbox.
I want to publish and don’t see New announcement. Your role doesn’t include publishing announcements. Ask an administrator at your company.
I click New announcement and see This feature isn’t included in your plan. Your company is on the Starter plan, and publishing announcements starts at Professional. Reading them works on every plan. See Billing, plan and modules.
