Assigning and tracking goals
Talent management › Goals: who can set goals, how to create them with fixed and variable tasks, how progress is marked and when goals are archived.
Goals in Orquiva are set from Talent management: you pick a person, create goals with their tasks and mark progress as it happens. The person only reads them, in Performance. What they see is covered in Goals and board.

Plan. Goals are included from the Professional plan. They aren’t available on Starter and can’t be bought separately. Check it in Billing, plan and modules.
Permission. Your role has to include Talent management. The factory Manager role includes it; the HR role doesn’t. You change it in Roles and permissions.
For whom. With that permission, you set goals only for the people who have you as their direct manager. An administrator can set them for anyone. Nobody sets goals for themselves from here.
Creating and assigning a goal
- Open Talent management. It opens on the Goals tab, with the list of people.
- Click the person. You see their open goals; Back to the list takes you back.
- Click New goal.
- Type the Title. If you like, add a Start date, End date and Description.
- Under Tasks, type each task in New task…, choose Fixed or Variable and click Add task.
- Click Create goal.
The year shown under Period is that of the start date; without one, that of the end date or of when the goal was created. With the period selector you filter by year or choose All periods.
Fixed and variable tasks
Click a goal to expand its tasks.
| Type | How it advances | What you click |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | Done or not done: 0% or 100%. | Complete, or Reopen to undo it. |
| Variable | Any percentage from 0 to 100. | Type the number and click Save. |
A goal’s progress is the average of its tasks, and the Total progress at the top is the average of the goals you’re looking at. From the expanded goal you can also add new tasks, remove one with Delete task, change the title, dates or description with Edit goal, or remove the whole goal with Delete. Deleting a goal takes its tasks with it and can’t be undone.
Without tasks, a goal never completes
A goal completes on its own when every task reaches 100%. There’s no button to mark it complete by hand, so a goal with no tasks stays at 0%. Add at least one.
Tracking progress
The History button on each row shows what happened and who did it: goal created or updated, tasks created, updated or deleted, progress updated, goal completed or reopened. Nobody can edit it.
Only the person’s direct manager or an administrator can change tasks and their percentage. The person can’t mark anything: when they finish a task, they have to tell you.
The team goals board
In Performance, the Board tab (My board) is something else: cards each department creates with New team goal and moves between columns. The whole department sees and moves them; only the card’s creator or an administrator can edit or delete it. They have no tasks or percentage, and they don’t appear in Talent management. Each person sees their own department’s board, administrators included.
Keep two limits in mind:
- Add column, Limit cards and the column order are saved in each person’s browser. They aren’t shared with the team and are lost when you switch browser or device.
- Delete completed stores a time period, but currently it doesn’t remove any cards. Done cards stay until someone deletes them.
What happens next
Orquiva doesn’t notify the person when you assign them a goal: they’ll see it when they open Performance.
When every task reaches 100%, the goal completes on its own. If you then add a task or lower a percentage, it reopens.
Every day at 03:00 (3 a.m., mainland Spain time), Orquiva archives goals that have been done for more than 7 days. They leave your list in Talent management and the person’s list too; the person can still see them under View history, on the board. You have no view of your team’s archived goals.
Goals aren’t linked to evaluations: completing one doesn’t change any score. Evaluations are covered in Reviewing your team.
If something goes wrong
I don’t see Talent management. Your role doesn’t include it or your company is on Starter. Ask whoever administers Orquiva.
It says “You have no direct reports”. Nobody has you as their direct manager. HR changes that in each person’s employment record.
Someone can’t see their goals. Their role doesn’t include Performance, and the factory Employee role doesn’t. Grant it in Roles and permissions.
I want to move a goal to someone else. Goals can’t be reassigned from the screen. Create it again for the other person and delete the original.
A completed goal has disappeared from the list. It was archived after 7 days as done. The person has it under View history.
A goal is stuck at 0% although the work is done. It has no tasks, or one of them isn’t at 100%. Add or complete its tasks.
