When you join, your company may give you an onboarding: a list of tasks to get your profile, documents and signatures in order. Here’s how to get through it without getting stuck.

Where it is

In the menu, My onboarding. If you have tasks to do, Home also reminds you under Needs your attention, with a notice like “You have 3 onboarding tasks pending”.

At the top you see your progress (how many tasks done out of how many) and your journey by phase. Below it, Your onboarding checklist, with each task in one of these states:

StatusWhat it means
PendingYou haven't started it
In progressYou've opened it or marked it as started
CompletedDone; it counts toward your progress

A task showing Waiting on dependencies is locked until you finish another one it depends on.

Task types and their buttons

Your company chooses which ones you get. Each type has a button that takes you to do it:

  • Profile → Open profile. Takes you to your profile and the task moves to In progress. Once you’ve filled in your details, mark it as done.
  • Documents → Continue upload. Opens the upload straight into the folder your company set. When you upload the file, the task completes itself and the document lands in My documents.
  • Policy → Read now. Opens the document and the task is completed.
  • Electronic signature → Open to sign. Opens the signature right there, without leaving the list. The task completes when you sign, not when you open the document.
  • Material → Confirm receipt. Opens whatever your company pointed it at. Once you have the equipment, mark it as done.

Changing a status yourself

  1. Open My onboarding and find the task in the list.
  2. Use Mark in progress if you’ve started it, or Mark pending to go back.
  3. Press Mark as done once you’ve finished it.
  4. If you closed it by mistake, press Reopen task.

Your manager sees these changes: the Recent activity block records every step and they see it in real time. Only mark a task as done when it really is.

Due dates

Some tasks have a date. You’ll see Due today, Due with the date or, once it has passed, Was due on with the date and Task overdue.

A past date doesn't lock the task

You can still complete it. But HR may be waiting on that task to finish setting you up, and you may get a reminder: don’t let it slide.

What happens next

  • When tasks are assigned to you, and when there’s a reminder, you get a notice in your inbox and by email.
  • Each completed task moves your progress up straight away.
  • When all of them are completed, your onboarding is finished automatically. There’s nothing else to confirm.

If something goes wrong

A signature task won’t complete. It completes when you sign. Go back to Open to sign and finish signing.

The button says the task doesn’t say which document or folder it points at. Your company’s template is incomplete. Tell HR: you can’t fix it yourself.

I uploaded the file but the task wasn’t marked. The file was saved. Mark the task yourself with Mark as done.

There’s a task that isn’t mine. Ask your manager or HR before marking it.

I’ve finished and the onboarding won’t close. Check that no task is left in Pending or In progress.
