Language and preferences
In Preferences you choose language, theme, font size and date format, and generate your iCal URL. The language follows you to other devices; the rest doesn't.
In Preferences you adjust how Orquiva looks for you. You open it from your avatar menu, top right. The same screen also has your password and two-step verification (Security and password).
What follows you and what doesn’t
| Preference | Where it's saved | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Language | In your account | It follows you to any device and browser |
| Theme | In this browser | On another computer or browser you'll have to choose it again |
| Font size | In this browser | Same as the theme |
| Date format | In this browser | Same as the theme |
Everything applies as soon as you select it: there’s no save button.
Changing the language
- Open your avatar menu and select Preferences.
- Under Language, select the one you want.
Orquiva is available in Spanish, English (US), English (UK), French and German. The change is immediate and saved to your account.
The help center has its own language
Changing Orquiva’s language doesn’t change the language of these pages. Use the help center’s language selector.
Appearance
On the Appearance card:
- Theme: Light, Dark or System (follows your device’s setting).
- Font size: Compact, Balanced or Comfortable.
- Date format: Based on language, DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD.
All three are saved in the browser. If you open Orquiva on another computer, or in another browser on the same computer, they go back to their defaults.
There’s no time zone setting in Preferences: your company sets it. If the times you see don’t match where you are, mention it to HR.
Notifications
Which notices you get and through which channel is chosen on a different screen: your avatar menu, Notifications, Notification preferences. We explain it in Notifications.
Subscribing to your calendar (iCal)
On the Subscribe to calendar (iCal) card you generate a URL to see your time off and company holidays in Outlook, Apple Calendar or Google Calendar.
- Select Generate URL.
- Under What this calendar should show, choose Only my time off. My team (manager) and Whole company (admin) are only available if your role allows it.
- If you like, give it a Name (optional) so you can recognize it.
- Select Generate URL and then Copy.
- Paste the URL into your calendar app as a subscribed calendar.
The calendar only includes approved time off and holidays. Pending requests don’t show. If your account is deactivated, it stops showing time off.
Your iCal URL is secret
Anyone with the URL can see that calendar, no password needed. Don’t paste it into a chat or a shared document. If it leaks, select Revoke: that URL stops working and is marked Revoked. Generate a new one and subscribe again.
If something goes wrong
I changed the theme and it looks different on another computer. Theme, font size and date format are saved in each browser. Set them in each one. The language does follow you.
The times don’t match where I am. Your company sets the time zone. Tell HR about the specific mismatch.
I can’t choose the team or company calendar. Those options depend on your role. If you think you should have them, ask HR.
A time-off entry doesn’t show in my subscribed calendar. Only approved time off is included. Also, your calendar app decides how often it refreshes.
I shared my iCal URL by mistake. Select Revoke, generate a new one and subscribe again with it.
